20 October 2026
at:// badges on Publications
Publications now show the same at:// badge as Documents, on the Dashboard, the Publications list and each Publication's tabs. Click it to copy the Publication's address.
Breadcrumbs
The footer now shows where you are, from Home down to the current page, with a link back to each level.
The side menu follows your content
A published Document's pages now highlight Publications in the side menu, and editing a saved design highlights Site Designs.
19 October 2026
Logging out after an update
Logging out from a tab that was open while SkyScribe updated no longer shows an error page.
Mobile preview stays inside the phone
In the Site Wizard's Mobile preview, an open side menu's shadow no longer spills outside the phone screen.
See your design on a phone
The Site Wizard's preview has a Desktop/Mobile switch above it. Mobile shows your design the way readers see your SkyScribe Site on a phone, with the same phone layouts, and the All tab shows Home, Category and Document as three phones side by side.
Insights figures agree across ranges
Switching the Insights tab between 7, 30 and 90 days no longer shows older figures for one range than another, and new visits now show within about 10 minutes rather than an hour.
Analytics for SDK-driven websites
A website a developer builds with the SkyScribe SDK can now show its visits on its Publication's Insights tab, just like a SkyScribe Site, for free. Its developer adds the SDK's analytics component and the Publication verification file; the Insights tab tells you if either is missing.
18 October 2026
Use your own domain
Serve a SkyScribe Site from a domain you own, like www.example.com. Connect it on the site's page, add the two DNS records it lists, and SkyScribe does the rest: a certificate, a redirect from your skyscribe.site address, and your Publication's links moved over. Included with every SkyScribe Site.
A new Subscription page
Subscription now shows each of your SkyScribe Sites as a card, with its design's screenshots, its address and how it's doing, plus a Plan card with your image storage. Each site has its own page: step-by-step setup before you launch, and its settings after.
Pick designs by sight, and check before you change a live site
Choose a site's design from its screenshots, and use Preview with your content to see it with your own posts first. Changing a live site's design or Publication now asks before it applies.
Rename a site
Change a live site's subdomain from its page. Links to the old address keep working for 12 months, redirecting to the new one.
Keep other apps linking to your site
If your Publication's address isn't your site's, its page now says so and fixes it with Use this site's address, so other Bluesky reading apps send readers to your site.
Payment & invoices
Update your payment method, download invoices and change your billing details from the Plan card on the Subscription page.
17 October 2026
Thumbnails for your posts in other apps
When a Document has a cover image, other Bluesky reading apps can now show it as a thumbnail. Posts you've already published get theirs the next time you save them.
Correct links to your posts in other apps
Editing a published Document could break the link other Bluesky reading apps show for it, and so could renaming or moving a Category or changing a Publication's address. Those now keep every link correct, and saving a Document again puts a broken link right.
Midnight Library starter template
A new starter template in the Site Wizard: deep navy and antique gold, with classic serif type.
Refreshed starter templates
The original starter templates now show off more of what the design form can do, with gradients, borders, shadows and footer columns.
Room around the header menu button
When the menu button is in the header, your logo and site name no longer crowd up against it.
Logout is in your account menu
Click your name and avatar at the top right to open your account menu. Logout is there now, instead of at the bottom of the side menu.
Side menu button in the footer
The button that collapses and expands the side menu is now in the bottom-left corner of the page.
16 October 2026
Insights in the Dashboard menu and search
A Publication's More actions menu on the Dashboard, and its row in the search bar, now include Insights alongside Manage, Config and Collaborators.
See who reads your site
Your Publication's Insights tab now shows how your SkyScribe Site is read: page views, visits, top pages, where readers came from and their countries, over 7, 30 or 90 days. It's included in PRO, with nothing to set up and no cookies on your site.
Faster sites, and your changes right away
Your SkyScribe Site now loads faster for readers everywhere. When you open it from SkyScribe, you always see your latest changes straight away, even before readers' copies refresh.
LAUNCH right after choosing works
Pressing LAUNCH straight after choosing a Design and Publication could say you hadn't chosen them yet. LAUNCH now waits a moment until your choices are saved.
Pages with Embeds open faster
Videos, music and code pens now show a Poster, with the thumbnail, title and a Play button, until a reader clicks it. Nothing from YouTube, Spotify and the rest loads until then, so pages with lots of Embeds open quickly. Videos start playing on the first click.
Bandcamp embed code works
Pasting Bandcamp's embed code (Share → Embed) into Insert → Embed… now shows the player's preview and inserts it. Before, the dialog kept asking you to preview.
READ MORE follows your colours
The READ MORE button on post previews now uses your design's interactive colours, in the Site Designer and on your live site. A static side menu also stays in view as you scroll down a long page.
15 October 2026
Your colours and logo in other apps
Other apps that show your Publication now use your SkyScribe Site's colours and your logo as its icon. Existing Publications catch up with Refresh theme and icon in Config.
Import a whole publication
Bring a Leaflet, pckt or Offprint blog into SkyScribe in one go, as a new Publication with a copy of every post. Find it under Foreign Publications on the Publications page.
Embeds play in previews
Videos, music and Bluesky posts now play on a Document's View page and in the import and Site Wizard previews, instead of showing a blank box.
Embeds
Paste a YouTube, Vimeo, Spotify, SoundCloud, Bandcamp, CodePen or Bluesky link on its own line and it plays in place on your site. Any other link becomes a preview card. Or use Insert → Embed… in the editor.
Imports keep embeds
Videos, music, Bluesky posts and link cards in documents you import now come across as Embeds, not plain links.
Import from Leaflet, pckt and Offprint
Documents written in Leaflet, pckt or Offprint now import with their formatting, lists, tables, links and images, not just their text. The preview lists anything that had to change, such as footnotes or embeds.
Better Markdown imports
Imports from Markdown apps such as MarkPub and GreenGale keep task lists as checklists, move footnotes to a Notes list, and keep each code block's language.
14 October 2026
Tables and horizontal rules
Use the editor's new Insert menu to add a table or a horizontal rule. Inside a table, the Table menu adds and removes rows and columns.
Import several documents at once
Tick the documents you want under Foreign Documents and choose Import selected. Check each one's title and settings, then import them all together.
Imports keep tables and rules
Documents you import from other apps now keep their tables and horizontal rules.
A clearer Import Document page
Importing a document now looks like editing one: your choices on the left, and a preview of the result filling the space on the right.
Documents stays highlighted in the menu
The Documents item in the side menu now stays highlighted while you view, edit, review or import a Document.
Import documents from other apps
Documents in your Bluesky account written with other apps, such as Leaflet, WordPress or MarkPub, now appear under Foreign Documents on the Documents page. Import shows a preview first, including anything that can't be carried over exactly, then makes a SkyScribe copy you can edit and publish. The original stays as it is.
Keep the original address and date
When you import a document you can keep its original date, and choose whether search engines should treat the original or your SkyScribe copy as the main version.
Re-import when the original changes
If you update the original in its own app, its row shows Updated since import, and Re-import brings the change into your copy.
13 October 2026
Tags line up from the left in Compact and Minimal
On a Document page using the Compact or Minimal layout, tags now sit together from the left instead of being spread across the row, in the Site Wizard preview and on your live site. The Full layout is unchanged.
12 October 2026
A warning before you lose unsaved design changes
If you've changed a saved design in the Site Wizard and try to leave without saving, you're now asked whether to stay or discard your changes.
10 October 2026
The Document preview matches your live site
In the Site Wizard, the Document preview now shows the author's details, dates and tags the same way your published site does, in the Full, Compact and Minimal layouts.
9 October 2026
Your Unsaved Draft is kept when you edit a saved design
Opening one of your saved designs from Site Designs and changing or saving it no longer replaces or deletes the Unsaved Draft you were working on before.
8 October 2026
Drop images straight into your Document
Drag an image from your computer onto a Document's body to upload it and insert it where you dropped it, or onto the Splash image field to make it the splash image. Pasting an image works too. Drop several at once and they upload to your library, ready to pick. Needs SkyScribe PRO.
6 October 2026
Privacy Policy: analytics on hosted sites
The Privacy Policy now explains that SkyScribe Sites use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits and measure page speed, without cookies or tracking individual visitors. The app itself still uses no analytics.
Developer docs have their own home
Everything about the SkyScribe SDK now lives at sdk.skyscribe.app, so the User Guide is just about writing and SkyScribe Sites. Old links to the developer pages take you to the new ones.
Choosing between a SkyScribe Site and an SDK-driven website
The User Guide's comparison page, now "SkyScribe Sites vs. SDK-driven websites", explains both routes more plainly: a SkyScribe Site needs no code, and an SDK-driven website is one a developer builds for you.
4 October 2026
Double-click to open folders everywhere in the Image Library
The Image Library's top-level screen now works like the rest of the library: double-click My Images or a Publication's folder to open it.
This window is the right size again
The "What's new" window no longer stretches across nearly the whole screen.
Click to select in the Image Library
Click anywhere on an image or folder to select it, and click again to deselect it. Shift-click selects everything in between. Double-click an image to preview it, or a folder to open it.
The User Guide explains selecting and previewing images
The Image Library page now covers every way to select images and folders, and what the image preview can do.
3 October 2026
Pages load faster
SkyScribe downloads less when you open it. The app's font is smaller, the Site Wizard loads its font list only when you use Typography, the template previews' images are smaller, and the document editor loads code highlighting only when a document has a code block.
2 October 2026
The User Guide's Site Wizard page is up to date
It now lists every tab of the design form, including Nav Menu, and the preview's All and Document tabs.
1 October 2026
See what each Site Wizard setting changes
Click the flashlight button beside a setting and the preview darkens everything except the part of the page it affects: the header, footer, headings, tags, side menu and more.
30 September 2026
The User Guide explains collaborating
A new section covers working in a Publication you collaborate on, and the guide describes the Owner and Collaborator pills and the Document rows.
Documents look the same everywhere
The Manage tab, the Documents page and Recent Documents on your Dashboard now use one Document row, with its title, at:// address, date and where it's published.
Recent Documents has View and Edit buttons
Each recent Document on your Dashboard shows when it was last updated and which Publication it's in, or a Standalone pill.
Clearer Manage tab for Collaborators
Drag handles are shown outlined, with a tooltip explaining only the Publication's owner can reorganise it, and an empty category says the owner hasn't added Documents yet.
Long Document titles stay on one line
They end in an ellipsis in the Manage tab; hover one to see it in full.
Nothing in the Site Wizard preview gets highlighted
Clicking around the preview, such as toggling the example menu, no longer selects its text or icons.
Site Designs preview with a single design
Its preview no longer stretches across the whole panel and crops the screenshots.
Publications you collaborate on are on your Dashboard
The Dashboard's Publications section lists them after your own, and an Owner or Collaborator pill shows which is which, here and on the Publications page.
29 September 2026
The update notification's button is visible again
See what's new was drawn in the same colour as the notification behind it.
Links use SkyScribe's colours
Some links showed in the browser's default blue or lavender. The Site Wizard's preview is unchanged, so it still matches your site.
Cancel or resume your subscription yourself
Cancel subscription on Manage Subscription asks once to confirm. Your SkyScribe Sites carry on until the end of the period you've paid for, and Resume subscription undoes it until then.
Remove a single SkyScribe Site
Remove on a site's row takes it away at the end of the current period, with Undo until then. From your next renewal you pay for one fewer.
Come back where you left off
If your subscription ends, your subdomains and uploaded images are kept for 12 months. Resubscribe from the Welcome back page and choose which SkyScribe Sites to bring back, just as they were.
Subscribing again after a subscription ended
It used to send you back to Manage Subscription instead of letting you pay.
28 September 2026
See what's new after an update
When SkyScribe has been updated since your last visit, a notification offers to show you what changed. You can turn this off with "Don't show me this any more", and back on from the Release notes switch in Settings. The version number in Settings opens the list any time.
Notification close buttons work with screen readers
They're now announced as "Close notification".
Release notes in the User Guide
A What's new page lists the changes that matter to you in each release, and a Full changelog page has every release in detail. Both live under Reference in the User Guide.
Opening a folder from the Image Library grid
Clicking a folder in the Image Library grid sometimes showed "This folder doesn't exist". Folders now open wherever you click them: the grid, the sidebar, or the breadcrumbs.
Add to New Folder works with screen readers
The folder name field in Add to New Folder is now properly labelled.
Clearer Manage Subscription page
If a change to one of your sites can't be made (for example because your subscription has ended), you now see why instead of nothing happening. A site added with Add a site appears without refreshing, and your sites stay in the same order after you launch one.
27 September 2026
Rescinding a submission
Collaborators can rescind a Document they've submitted for review again. It previously failed.
Saves that can't go through now say why
If saving a Document is refused (for example because it was changed somewhere else in the meantime), a message now explains what happened instead of the save silently doing nothing.
26 September 2026
Image uploads are a SkyScribe PRO feature
Uploading images to the Image Library needs an active SkyScribe PRO subscription. You can still use images by URL on any plan.
25 September 2026
Terms, Acceptable Use and an updated Privacy Policy
SkyScribe now has Terms of Service and an Acceptable Use Policy, and the Privacy Policy covers payments. They're linked from the Settings menu, along with an "About SkyScribe" panel.
One image picker everywhere
Choosing an image works the same way across the app, whether it's for a logo, a splash image or a Document, with your library and any Publication folders you can use in one place.
24 September 2026
The Wizard preview matches your live site more closely
The preview is drawn from the same compiled design your live site uses, so what you see while designing is what visitors get.
Every release is in the User Guide: What’s new and the full changelog.
SkyScribe is made by Perpetual Summer Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 11246803).
